For the first time in 32+ years...

For the First time in 32+ years, Mark and I bought a sofa at a furniture store. Before we were married, we went to Jamison in Franklin and ordered our first sofa and chair, picked the fabric, frame, etc. Then before Robert was born (26 years ago) we went back to the Jamison warehouse, (now the famous Factory in Franklin) and bought a floor sample for next to nothing thanks to my daddy's relationship with the Gorrell/Jamison families. Meanwhile we inherited the famous gold/then/blue one that had been my Grandmother Ross' and built sometime in the 70's. (It's the one that was recovered at the prison, but that's another story!) Those lasted until about 10 years ago when we purchased a nearly new sofa and love seat from Sprintz that had been used by a friend of my mom's only a few months. Going into a new home, we shopped all around Katy and Houston and found this one. I don't know why it appeals to me so much. It's nothing like I thought I wanted, but here it is!

Come visit and see for yourself! It's very comfy and fits our weird taste!

For now we've just bought the sofa. The chair and ottoman are still at the store and we are hoping it will be drastically reduced now that it will be living there without its matching sofa friend! Mark is still hoping for a recliner of some type. Maybe Santa or the birthday fairy will get him one! He deserves it!

The Sweetness of a Lime Tree

I will blog about our time with Ross, Lindsay, and Colton in a few days. It's still too fresh and I don't want to ruin the keyboard with tears!

BUT, on the other hand, I will share something sweet about our new house. We have a beautiful back yard, small by Tennessee standards, but very well landscaped and cared for. Mark thought it would be fun to plant a citrus tree as we moved in and be able to harvest fruit in the next couple of years from it. We discussed what type of tree. Neither of us are too excited about oranges, so I suggested lemon or lime. If you know anything about us, you know we like our limes........margaritas and key lime pie, etc. So, we decided that a lime tree would be what we would plant in our new back yard.

We took our dear friends, Patti and Andy Watson, to see our house last weekend. They seemed to really like it and we ventured out into the back yard. There was a beautiful white crepe myrtle blossoming in the middle of the yard. We looked and there was another mature tree right next to it.....would you believe a lime tree covered with small limes? I jumped for joy! We take it that the Lord had this house picked out for us and was confirming it with this sweet reminder that He thinks of everything. He knows the desires of our hearts and reminds us that he cares for the smallest details of our lives.

Pie anyone!?!
